Los perros en Espana...& Ibernalo

Today was a pleasant shortish walk - only 19.5km - there was time to sit and wait for birds to appear - so Rob was able to add 5 new birds to his list of 60 species. Loveliest song was a nightingale. We also saw a couple of foxes.

But now I want to talk about perros - dogs. Everyone seems to own one. Mostly they are tied up or behind fences or friendly,  but as we approach a pueblo a chain reaction of barking occurs. Today we managed to sneak through a couple of pueblos without being observed - take that perros! We have had a couple of edgy moments with dogs on the loose - 1 jumped up and had a little nip of my pack, 1 was out in the wilds and barked at us but luckily headed away from us,  and another time approaching a village a woman warned us there were dogs ahead, 1 was truly scary but she managed to call him off. Never a dull moment.

Tonight we are staying in rather strange accommodation attached to a church. We had to wait for an hour for someone to arrive and let us in - although surprisingly the church itself was open so our back-up plan was to sleep in there!  Glad we don't have to. Big day tomorrow - 29 km & 1070m of ascent. Waaah.
