No need to have the frustration of trying to find poorly marked trails on a section that is a little mundane, so a bus trip to Olite via Pamplona was the order of the day. We had an hour in Pamplona and could scarcely believe it was the same city we visited way back in 1980. The old quarter is lovely still, with narrow streets and ornate buildings.
Olite is at another level again. The beautifully restored Royal Palace dominating the quiet cobbled streets, such a contrast to the hustle and bustle of Pamplona. We were tourists instead of peregrinos for a nice change - but back to it tomorrow so we stocked up on basic supplies; some rather strange food items in our backpacks now - it's hard to find tea bags, plain crackers and muesli in Espana.
