Short day to Fontecha

This morning we walked through Salinas de Anana which is one of the oldest towns in the area and has always been important for salt extraction - it was rather surreal with an array of wooden terraced salt pans still in use today. In Fontecha there are 2 huge defensive towers used to defend the route to Salinas. We also passed a little lagoon, reached through a forest of Holm oak. The trail to Fontecha was really nice and gentle.

We managed to hitch from there to Miranda de Ebro - our biggest city for ages - to find accommodation for the night - which turned out to be attached to a hugely popular bar serving great food. Yummy!

Glad to be here as it is now pouring with rain again.
